The OSMO Foundation, a non-profit entity, was established in July 2009 to fund, by way of grants, grassroots initiatives  that support community building and networking. The Foundation was created by investors, technology and media executives and the community itself to support the growth and development of Montreal’s next generation of technology entrepreneurs.

As a funding entity, the OSMO Foundation does not organize activities and events itself but financially supports activities proposed and organized by members of the community.

OSMO’s mission is to use its financial resources to facilitate the transfer of knowledge, experience and relationships between experienced entrepreneurs and their support-ecosystems  and aspiring entrepreneurs. These transfers will occur via ongoing virtual and physical networking events and community building activities.

The Objectives of The OSMO Foundation are:

  • To facilitate knowledge transfer between the Founders of early stage technology companies by increasing significantly the number of opportunities for interaction.
  • To create opportunities for interaction between the various components of the Montreal technology eco-system; University students, budding entrepreneurs, freelancers, early-stage companies, investors, industry leaders and field experts, quasi-government groups and independent consultants and service providers.
  • To support cross community interaction and knowledge-transfer between Montreal’s technology community and those in other North American and European technology hubs.
  • To establish a physical location in Montreal that will act as the anchor for the community, provide co-working space for investors and very early stage technology companies, event space for community lead activities and an internet café for the larger community.
